The Last One Standing?
These are paintings of birds that are on U.S.A. State Endangered Species list. They are on the brink of extinction. One of them may really be the last one standing. It’s a sobering thought …… to be the last one.
I paint the animals from the state in which I live. I began the series while I was in graduate school in Connecticut. The Connecticut bird paintings were created for a group show in conjunction with a visit and talk by Dr. Jane Goodall at Western Connecticut State University in Danbury, CT, USA. I was honored to meet her during her visit to the campus.
The paintings incorporate printed information about the animals; their habits, habitat, and so on. They are oil on gessoed Rives BFK size printmaking paper, 12 by 12 inches.
The paintings are in alphabetical order.
